This National Scholarship Month, we’re proud to recognize the Michelle Lee Snyder Merrill Memorial Scholarship! This $500 scholarship celebrates a Southside Charter High School senior who exemplifies kindness, compassion, cooperation, and academic achievement. Thank you to the Denison Family for this wonderful opportunity that uplifts and honors outstanding character in our students!

November is National Scholarship Month, and we’re excited to highlight the Fred Denison "Mr. D" Memorial Scholarship! This special scholarship offers between $300-$500 to Southside Seniors. We extend a huge thank you to the Denison Family for providing this meaningful opportunity and supporting our students’ future story.
Background Information:
Mr. D was a former student/graduate, teacher, and school board member for the Southside School District for some 68 years of his life. He loved working with kids, and he held a special place in his heart for those students he felt had overcome (or were overcoming) a difficult set of circumstances in their lives. He was raised in a single parent home from the age of 4 and began to work for his own money to help support his family at the age of 13. After graduating as valedictorian of his high school class, Mr. D went on to graduate from Arkansas State Teachers College (now UCA) in 3 years. During that time frame, he also got married and held down a full-time job. Even during his teaching career, Mr. D also worked as a cattle farm operator as well as a part-time electrician.

We will see you there!
