Southside Preschool hosted a festive Fall Carnival on Tuesday evening, welcoming students and their families for a night filled with food, games, and good times. Children enjoyed classic carnival favorites such as the Ducks on the Pond, Ring Toss, and Basketball Toss, while families snacked on popcorn, cotton candy, snow cones, and corn dogs provided by Sonic.

Adding to the fun were three special guests in costume — Sonic’s Hotdog, the PECO Chicken, and CeeBee from Citizens Bank — who stopped by to greet the children and take photos.

Events like the preschool carnival provide more than just entertainment. Family-centered activities help strengthen the home-school connection and support the social and emotional development of young children. When families participate in fun, shared experiences, children build confidence, develop communication skills, and create positive memories associated with school.

The preschool staff shared their gratitude to everyone who made the evening possible:

Sonic Drive-In, Southside Volunteer Fire Department, Independence County Sheriff’s Department, Huckleberry’s Inflatables, Fiesta Inflatables, First Community Bank, Merchants and Planters Bank, Citizens Bank Headquarters, PECO Foods, Cody Maple Racing, Vital Link EMS, and all families who donated Little Debbie Cakes.
