Girl and boys bowling teams

Southside, Batesville, Cedar Ridge, Midland, and Concord competed in the 8th Annual Charlie Jeffery/Joyce Vickery Memorial Bowling Tournament at Hollywood Bowl in Batesville. Originally scheduled for January 28, the event was postponed due to winter weather before being successfully completed.

The tournament format included two games of six-person singles play followed by three Baker team games, with total pinfall determining final standings.

Boys Division

The Southside boys delivered a dominant performance, setting tournament records for:

  • Team high game – 1,216 pins

  • Bakers high game – 231 pins

  • Overall team score – 2,907 pins

Coming off a close second-place finish at the state tournament the previous week, the Southerners made a strong statement to close their season.

Freshman Alex Hogan of Batesville earned Boys MVP honors with games of 236 and 233 for a 469 total. Close behind were Southside’s Royce Brucher (211, 232) and Braxton Waggoner (227, 216), who each finished with 443. Notably, the top six boys averaged over 200 pins per game.

Girls Division

The girls competition was tightly contested. Southside held a six-pin lead entering Baker play and extended it to 25 pins after two games. However, Concord surged in the final Baker game with a 180— the 5th highest Baker score in tournament history — compared to Southside’s 108, securing the championship.

The Girls MVP was decided by a single pin, with Vera Brooks of Cedar Ridge edging Southside’s Rileigh McCollum, 302–301.

Scholarship Program

Senior bowlers were invited to apply for scholarships through the Charlie Jeffery/Joyce Vickery Memorial Scholarship Program. Six seniors were awarded $300 scholarships, funded by generous community sponsors.

The tournament showcased exceptional performances, historic scores, and outstanding sportsmanship across all teams. From record-breaking games to a one-pin MVP finish, the event delivered competitive excitement while continuing its mission of celebrating student-athletes and supporting seniors through scholarships.

A great way to close out the 2025–26 bowling season.
