Southside Middle School 6th grade students recently took their study of human body systems to the next level with a hands-on science lab. On Wednesday, March 4, students had the opportunity to dissect a sheep’s heart after completing their unit on the circulatory system.
During the activity, students carefully examined the heart and worked to identify the different parts they had been learning about in class. The lab allowed them to see firsthand how the heart functions and how it plays a vital role in pumping blood throughout the body.
The engaging experience gave students a deeper understanding of the circulatory system while allowing them to practice real-world scientific observation skills. The activity was an exciting opportunity to connect classroom learning with hands-on exploration.
