Groups of middle school students holding awards

Southside School District is proud to celebrate the outstanding accomplishments of our Junior Beta students and their upcoming journey to the national stage.

In January, forty exceptionally talented 5th and 6th grade students represented Southside at the Arkansas Junior Beta Convention in Hot Springs. Their hard work and dedication paid off in a big way, with six students earning Champion titles and 23 additional individuals and teams placing in the Top 5—qualifying them for the National Junior Beta Convention.

This June, nine of those students will travel to Nashville, Tennessee, to compete in five individual events and four team competitions at the National Junior Beta Convention, held June 20–27. This is an incredible achievement and a testament to their commitment to academic excellence, leadership, and service.

As they prepare for this exciting opportunity, our Junior Beta students are working to raise funds to help cover travel expenses, including transportation, lodging, and meals. The community can support these hardworking students by visiting Shug’s Coffee, located across from the school, on Saturday, April 25. A portion of the day’s proceeds will be donated to support their trip.

We are grateful to Shug’s Coffee for their generosity and to our community for supporting our students as they represent Southside on a national level.
