Southside School District recognizes and thanks Kyle Miller for his six years of service on the Southside School District Board of Directors and welcomes Mark Owens as the newest member of the board.
Miller, who has represented Zone 1 since joining the board in 2020, is stepping away from his position after being named a district manager for Harps Food Stores. In his new role, Miller will oversee 18 stores in Fulton, Kentucky, and surrounding Tennessee communities.
“Southside School District is grateful for Kyle’s six years of dedicated service to our students, staff and community,” Superintendent Dion Stevens said. “His commitment to Southside and his willingness to serve have been greatly appreciated. We congratulate him on this new opportunity and wish him continued success.”
Following Miller’s announcement, the district advertised the Zone 1 vacancy in July. At its August meeting, the Board of Directors appointed Mark Owens to fill the position.
Owens and his wife, Lori, reside in Zone 1 and have longstanding ties to the Southside School District. Their daughter, Hanna Pinkett, attended Southside schools and has served as a first-grade teacher in the district for the past several years. Their son-in-law, Greyson Pinkett, is also a member of the Southside family, serving as the district’s baseball coach.
“I'm honored to serve on the Southside School Board and look forward to supporting the students, educators, and families who make our school and community a special place,” Owens said.
Owens is employed by Citizens Bank and brings his professional experience, community involvement and connection to Southside to his new role on the Board of Directors.
“We are privileged to welcome Mark to an outstanding board that is committed to serving the students, families and staff of Southside School District,” Stevens said. “We look forward to the perspective and experience he will bring to the board.”
