We’ll see you back in class on Monday, March 31!

Let's talk about Southside School Choirs!
This week, the choirs attended their Choral Performance Assessment. For stage performance from each of the 4 judge panels, (out of 100 possible points), Jr. Madrigals scored 94,94, 96 and a Superior in music literacy. Jr. Women- 96, 95, 97 and a Superior in music literacy. Jr. Men's Chorus- 94, 98, 93 and a Superior in music literacy.
Jr. Women received the highest scores given to any Jr. High choir (1-7A) over the 3 day event and the Jr. Men had the 3rd highest total score given.
WOW! What amazing accomplishments!! 💙💛

We are excited to announce that Southside Junior High has received a $21,200 check from The PEER Network in recognition of our students' outstanding growth on the ATLAS Summative Assessment. This funding is part of the Summative Student Growth incentive, a program that rewards teachers and school leaders for helping students improve their scores on the ATLAS Summative Assessment. All junior high teachers and school leaders will share the award equally. This achievement reflects the hard work and dedication of our students, teachers, and staff in fostering a culture of academic excellence.
The ATLAS Summative Assessment is a critical measure of student learning and progress, and our students' growth demonstrates their commitment to continuous improvement. This recognition from The PEER Network reinforces the effectiveness of our instructional strategies and the support systems we have in place to help every student succeed.
We extend our gratitude to The PEER Network for this generous acknowledgment and to our entire school community for their ongoing efforts in making student success a priority. This achievement serves as a testament to the power of collaboration, perseverance, and high expectations.

Southside Junior High is celebrating Computer Science Education Week with the Hour of Code! This global movement introduces students to the basics of coding, showing that anyone can learn and thrive in computer science. Our students are diving in, and by the end of the week, they’ll have completed a full hour of coding!

Today, SJHS 7th graders went to Collins Theater to watch A Christmas Carol! After reading the novella in their English class, this was a wonderful opportunity!

Here are our November Star Southerners!!! These students were nominated by one of their teachers for going above and beyond, whether it be their great attitudes in class, helping classmates, turning in superb classwork, or being all around good citizens. The handwritten certificate their teacher filled out was mailed home for parents/guardians to see! Each student listened to their nomination while enjoying a donut. We are so proud of all these kids!! 💙💛

A huge congratulations to Coach Childress on going undefeated this football season. What an accomplishment! We can't wait to see what else is in store for our junior high football program!
