A huge congratulations to Coach Childress on going undefeated this football season. What an accomplishment! We can't wait to see what else is in store for our junior high football program!

We are getting a jumpstart on our Christmas decorations here at the junior high! These guys did a great job helping Ms. Kristi with the office tree! 🎅🎄

We had a wonderful pep rally today, recognizing junior high fall sports, band, and choir for all of their accomplishments so far this year. The students absolutely loved getting to do this and had so much fun! 💙💛 9TH GRADE won the spirit stick. I'm not sure if they're more excited or Coach Rains and Coach B! 🤣 Which grade will take the spirit stick next?!

October Star Southerners!!! These students were nominated by one of their teachers for going above and beyond, whether it be their great attitudes in class, helping classmates, having the highest class average, or being all around good citizens. The handwritten certificate their teacher filled out was mailed home for parents/guardians to see! We are so proud of all these kids!! 💙💛

Working hard day in and day out got these Southerners a conference title! Not only a title, but they are sitting at 9-0 with a chance to go 10-0! Please come support them next Thursday for the opportunity to be undefeated conference champs.

Flu shots will be held at the junior high on October 23 IF you are interested. In order for your child to get their flu shot, ALL of the paperwork must be filled out. Forms were sent home on October 11; if your child needs another one, they can grab one from the office on Monday!

Fall Break is upon us! There will be no school October 16-18. We will only be in school Monday and Tuesday this week. We hope you all have a great break!

A glimpse at the first couple of days in our new cafeteria! The food is great, and atmosphere is amazing. We are all so thankful to have this new space, and the students are loving it!

During the month of September, we kicked off our new student of the month recognition called Star Southerners. Students are recognized by teachers for various reasons ranging from great participation in class, picking up trash as they walk by it, helping fellow classmates, completing their book talks, simply doing a good deed, etc. At the end of each month, these students are brought in and told why they were nominated as they enjoy a treat! Today, we celebrated our September Star Southerners with donuts!

Exciting news! The brand new high school and junior high cafeteria is opening on October 7th, 2024! Students will start enjoying their meals in this amazing space starting that Monday. Get ready for a fresh dining experience!

Yesterday, SJHS had an assembly to answer the infamous student question, "Why do we need to learn this?" The speakers came in to talk about what subjects they use in their current profession that they never thought they would! This included math and fractions through reading a tape measure, ELA/grammar through writing/reading manuals, science through using the scientific method, communications, and public speaking. Speakers included: Jerry Duncan: Auto Car Designer for BadBoy Adam Robbins: Head of Electrical Maintenance at Future Fuel Josh Settimio & Kayla May: Real Estate Professionals Jacob Heinrich: Mechanical Engineer at Future Fuel Kervin Flores: Purchasing at Future Fuel A big thank you to all of them for taking time out of their day to come speak to our students!

SJHS Parent Teacher Conferences are Tuesday (9/17) from 3:30-7:00. Parents, you will come at whatever time works best for you. Come to the front and get your child's progress report and then visit with the teachers you would like to visit with. Teachers will be located in their classrooms. Reminder: There is NO school on Wednesday (9/18) due to professional development!

New SJHS students enjoyed getting lunch on Friday! Pizza, drinks, and lots of good conversation. We are so thankful they chose Southside! 💙💛

Southside Junior High cheer is hosting a mini night at the game against Blytheville next week, September 19th! Children ages 5-12 years will practice with the girls that Thursday from 4-5, then cheer with us at the game. The game has an earlier start time of 6pm! $20 per child Sign up in the elementary office or email mallory.bice@southsideschools.org. Payments can be made to the elementary office or paid at Thursday's practice.

Reminders/Upcoming dates for SJHS: Picture day is tomorrow (Friday 9/13). All final food drive donations are due first thing tomorrow morning. Parent Teacher Conferences will be held Tuesday, 9/17. You will come in the front doors, get your child's progress report, and visit with the teachers you need to. There will be NO school on Wednesday, 9/18! Have a great evening!
