STEM Camp Parents you're invited! Each Thursday of STEM Camp parents are invited to see what your students have been working on all week. Showcase hours are 12:30PM - 1:30PM June 9th and June 16th.
With summer right around the corner, it's time to think about keeping children
healthy while school is out. Southside School District provides free meals to children during the summer.
This summer, meals will be served at Southside High School Cafeteria at 70 Scott Drive and Southside Elementary Cafeteria at 2460 Batesville Blvd. Starting on May 26, 2022 and ending August 5, 2022. Breakfast time 8:00 am - 9:00am Lunch 11:30am - 12:30 pm. We will be closed on July 4th 2022. Serving days will be Monday - Friday.
There are no income requirements or registration. Anyone age 18 or younger may come to eat. Each year, the U.S. Department of Agriculture partners with local organizations like Southside School District,

The school board approved the hiring of Mr. Keith McDaniel as the new Junior High Principal at this month’s board meeting. Mr. McDaniel brings over 20 years of experience to his new role, including experience in leadership positions such as Dean of Students, Athletic Director, Assistant Principal, Principal, and most recently, Superintendent of Brookland Public Schools. Before entering the education world, Mr. McDaniel was a squad leader in the United States Marine Corps.
“I am extremely excited to join the Southside School District which has a strong reputation for providing high academic achievement and personal growth for all of its students. I am also looking forward to working with teachers, parents, and students to help provide educational and extracurricular opportunities for each and every student.”
Also joining the Junior High School is Mrs. Torey Hanna. She will serve as the Assistant Principal to support Mr. McDaniel. Mrs. Hanna currently serves as the High School Counselor at Mountain View, and has several years of experience working within that school district. Mrs. Hanna received her undergraduate degree from Arkansas Tech, her Master’s Degree from the University of Central Arkansas, and her Specialist degree from Arkansas State University.
“I am thrilled to be coming to such an amazing and supportive school. I thoroughly enjoy working with junior high students because it is such a pivotal moment in their life. I cannot wait to see where this new journey takes me professionally while building lifelong relationships.”
Mr. Jonathan Edwards will also be joining the administration team as Dean of Students. Edwards has been a part of the Southside family for nine years. His roles have included teaching Science at the high school and junior high level, as well as coaching football, track, and wrestling. Edwards will take on the role of Head Junior High football coach as well.
“Over the nine years I have been at Southside, God has led me to be a servant, to help students, staff, and community. My heart truly lies here. As I began to recognize this, I knew my next step in life was administration. I can’t wait to continue serving the school district and to get started with Mr. McDaniels and Mrs. Hanna.”

The junior high teachers and administration were proud to recognize students during their academic awards ceremonies this morning. Mr. Sitkowski commented, "It takes great students, teachers and parents to make a school successful, and we are proud o have that here at Southside."

If your student athlete was unable to participate in the free physicals at school last week, you may take these forms to your personal care provider for a physical and have them fill out completely. Remember, it is mandatory for your students to have an updated physical on file when participating in any athletic activity.

The Junior High trap teams competed today, and the JH Squad A won the North Regionals! They will compete for the State Title on June 2nd. Congratulations to Asher Skipper, Houston Clark, Kaleb Moser, Ruger Puckett, and Hunter Bishop. Thanks to coaches Jacob Clark, Brandon Skipper and John Johnston for all the hard work they put in with these boys!
